Drugs such as Crestor and Lipitor are typically prescribed to treat high LDL, but some patients may not be able to tolerate them. Two new FDA-approved drugs, Praluent and Repatha, have been developed to fight high LDL.
The drugs are taken as a self-administered injection either bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the drug and dosage. Praluent and Repatha have been shown to be very effective in lowering cholesterol levels.
